Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni will be out for about three weeks with a stress injury to his left foot, but there is still optimism he will recover in time for the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1, club sources told ESPN.

Tchouaméni started the 2-1 win over Bayern Munich that secured Madrid's place in the Wembley final but had to be replaced by Eduardo Camavinga after 70 minutes after feeling discomfort in his foot.

The France international underwent an MRI scan on Thursday morning which confirmed the injury.

"Following tests carried out today on our player Aurélien Tchouaméni by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a stress injury to his left foot," the club said in a statement.

It is an injury in the same area that sidelined Tchouaméni at the end of October. That knock caused the 24-year-old to miss 11 games, and he has been feeling pain in his foot for weeks.

Tchouaméni, however, will be hoping to be fit in time for the Wembley final as he is an indispensable player for Carlo Ancelotti. He has started 22 LaLiga games and seven Champions League games, including both legs of the semifinal against Bayern.
